Wild In Bayside: Preserving The Night

Wild In Bayside talks are hosted by Friends of Native Wildlife Inc in spring and autumn every year to inform our members and residents about wildlife and how we can improve our area for native fauna.

Light pollution is needless and expensive, disturbs our wildlife and is disruptive for people too. Good lighting keeps people safe while minimising ill-effects. Our guest speaker, Judith Bailey, is Immediate Past President of DarkSky Victoria, a chapter of DarkSky International. Judith will talk about the effects of light pollution and DarkSky's work to build awareness and to mitigate excessive and poorly designed lighting.

Judith has been advocating for preservation of the night sky for over 30 years. She belongs to a number of environmental groups and is a past Manager of the Ballarat Municipal Observatory and Museum.

This event will include a brief Annual General Meeting for Friends of Native Wildlife Inc.

Free community event.
