BROWN, Carolyn Diane | I assure you as a nature lover since my Girl Guiding days, both as a girl and a leader, I live and have passed on the importance of our delicate environment to them and my family and friends. Questions 1-9 are a ‘yes’ from me. These are common sense action plans. | I assure you as a nature lover since my Girl Guiding days, both as a girl and a leader, I live and have passed on the importance of our delicate environment to them and my family and friends. EVANS, Laurence | Yes. As a Bayside Councillor for the last 8 years I have been proud of my contribution to the Natural and fauna diversity within the City. As late as the 15th September 2020 Council Meeting I had an amendment that I drafted, in consultation with the Community and CEO to 10.7........ 6. notes the importance of the Bay Road Heathland Sanctuary adjacent to the School site and ensures that this project is developed in a manner which protects and where possible enhances the biodiversity values of the Sanctuary. |
Where there are Nature Reserves - they should be just that- Nature Reserves. I have and will encourage a feasibility study into the possibility of some more ‘dog off leash’ areas. | Yes I do and some of our best recreation areas are examples where this has occurred. |

KNIGHT, John | Yes. | Yes, however I would prefer that dog walking not take place on ovals and, in this regard, I would like to see Council commission more “Bark Parks”. | Yes. |

EVANS, Laurence | One of the most ‘Visionary’ projects I have ‘championed’ in my whole 15 years as a Councillor (Sandringham and Bayside) is the transformation of the Elsternwick Golf Course into a Nature Reserve and Wetlands at Elsternwick Park North. This has had great Community input and is now in the first stage of construction with ‘The Chain of Ponds’. I could elaborate for a long time on this - however, most people know about it. | I was the Councillor that requested in the redevelopment of the Teahouse at Ricketts Point that the lighting - both bollard and overhead’ be changed to incorporate ‘fauna friendly’ lighting. I have requested that this be introduced and become normal in all of our Native Reserves. | Yes. This is occurring in our Dog Animal Management Program. |

Q7 Should Council place greater importance on ensuring the successful protection of mature trees in considering and designing new development proposals on both private and public land? | Q8 Should Council provide greater encouragement to Bayside residents to create wildlife-friendly gardens and resurrect the Gardens for Wildlife trial? | Q9 Do you support Council providing the community with more detail as to the allocation of resources to, and an annual report on, implementation of the Biodiversity Action Plan? | |

EVANS, Laurence | Yes, greater bonds should be occurring. I was fascinated to read that one of the trees at the second last? Planning Meeting that I voted to ensure was saved and protected had a ‘Natural Capital’ of in excess of $500,000. | I’d be in favour of this but would want to hear what Council Officers would comment on. | I’m all for transparency and would welcome more discussion on the means and ways this could be implemented. |

KNIGHT, John | This end of the municipality is well protected by the environmental overlay and the parks and golf courses offer protection to the mature trees. Council is now planting, indigenous to the Bayside area, trees and identifying them, to encourage residents to plant more of the various types. | Yes. | It may serve the purpose to utilise the quarterly Bayside magazine to keep the ratepayers up to date on the allocation of resources. |
